Elaine Huguenin and her husband own a photography
business.
They specialize in weddings. Unfortunately, they were under the
mistaken
impression that a wedding was something that took place between a man
and a
woman. When two women asked Mrs. Hugenin to photograph their
“commitment
ceremony” she respectfully declined. For one thing, this contradicted
her
Christian beliefs. For another thing, she thought her
business was free to take or decline any job she wished. Boy was she
wrong! Maybe
that works in a restaurant. Maybe Denny's can post a sign that says “No
shirts,
No Shoes, No Service,” Maybe a shoe salesman
can insist that one have feet before they buy shoes. Maybe
veterinarians can limit their treatment to animals, not people, but
Elaine Huguenin
cannot chose her own clientele. The two
women filed a complaint with the New Mexico Human Rights
Division. Now Mrs. Huguenin is being tried for discrimination.
I have to believe that these two women could have easily
found somebody else to photograph their wedding. Did they really need to hassle Elaine
Huguenin for daring to not agree with their lifestyle? Score another for the
ideology of tolerance. Is it with a respect for tolerance that a woman’s
religious convictions are deemed unimportant? Is that how we celebrate diversity in our country?
I’m reminded of the time two female college students
advertised for a roommate. When a prospective woman came by to look at the
apartment, she informed the two young ladies that she was lesbian and asked if
they would be uncomfortable living with her. Now mind you, these college girls
were not landlords with obligations of fair housing. They were two students who
themselves would be involved in the living situation. They answered her nicely
and said nothing derogatory. But they did admit, for the sake of honesty, that
they were uncomfortable. The poor girls were sued and ordered by the court to
go through sensitivity training.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The gay agenda is
not interested in equal rights. They want it against the law to even speak against
homosexuality. And they think that if they keep repeating the word tolerance,
nobody will notice how intolerant they really are. Only one thing bothers me
more than their audacity and hypocrisy: The fact that their plan is working.
