Jimmy Carter is at it again. He can’t seem to get
over his
reputation as the worst President we ever had, so he’s doing everything
he can
to make up for it by being (supposedly) an important Ex-
President. I’ll say this for the man: Although he did not
change his reputation,
he did top his reputation, for now he is also the worst Ex-President
we ever had. I know. I know. He
built a few houses through Habitat For Humanity. Whooptey-Fricken-Doo! But he also undermines our current
administration every step of the way. Oh, wait! I forgot! When asked
about that, Carter insisted he was not undermining our administration. I
guess that settles the matter. If he says he isn’t doing any undermining, then
he must not be. It’s kind of like the way we know Islam is a religion of peace.
Muslims keep telling us they are peaceful. Just ignore what you see going on
around the world and instead, listen to what they say about themselves.
Speaking of peaceful Muslims, Carter involved
himself this
week in talks with that paragon of warmth and brotherhood, Hamas.
Have you heard the latest? Carter says Hamas has finally
recognized
Israel’s right to exist! This is the
most exciting news since Chamberlain got Hitler to sign a peace treaty.
Of course, when the leaders of Hamas were asked to comment,
they denied that they recognize Israel’s right to exist. All they promised was to have a ten-year
truce with Israel. The conditions of
the truce? Those magic words, once
again, a separate Palestinian state.
That’s the solution to everything; this state that the
Palestinians
turned down when they were first offered it in 1948. Once again,
Israel is to offer land in exchange for a promise that Jews won't be
murdered, a promise that has never been kept, a concession, not unlike
the concession when Israel left Gaza
only to have missiles fired at her from Gaza for a whole year
afterwards.
“Jimmy…Jimmy. Why
should we believe you can fix this mess when your Presidency gave the biggest
green light to terrorism the world has ever seen? Your talks with Iran, when they held 50 Americans hostage, were
inspiring, all right. They inspired the Iranians to keep the hostages for a
whole year, releasing them on the very day Ronald Reagan was inaugurated. During that year, did former President Ford
talk about you the way you talk about George Bush? God knows there was plenty for him to talk about."
"And one more thing, Jimmy. Why should the Israelis believe
you want peace when you accuse them of “criminal atrocities” simply because
they put sanctions on Gaza? Did you
ever call your Hamas buddies criminal for firing missals into Israel? Come to think of it, do you call any of your
dictator friends criminal? Castro or Chavez or any of your other
buddies? You know something, Jimmy?
You’re a real piece of work."
"Jimmy…Jimmy…I know you’re looking for ways to fill your time
these days. Have you considered leather craft?
Think about it, Jimmy. We’re all
sorry you were such a bad President but…Oh…How shall I put this? We simply don’t want to hear from you
anymore. You help the problems of the
world the way a symphony helps a headache."
