Former Homeland Security Adviser, Tom Ridge has written a book which accuses the Bush administration of raising the terror alert level for political purposes. He has since distanced himself from the comment, trying to tell us that he didn't really say what he said. Well, he kind of, sort of said it, but not really. You'd think people would learn that once their words are actually written in books, they are fairly hard to back away from. But such evasiveness is generally based, not on the truth, but on how popular the original statement was, and in this case, (similar to the Scott McClellen saga) it blew up in Ridge's face.
For myself, I am sick and tired of these classless, cowardly kiss and tell books. If you have ethical problems with the administration you are working with, something of Earth shattering importance that we all desperately need to know, then bring it up at the time. We don't want to hear about it at Barnes and Noble.
