While Trying to Make Our Enemies Love Us, He Has Forgotten Our Friends

In keeping with his desire to become the next Neville Chamberlain, President Obama decided to withdraw our missile shield from Poland and Czechoslovakia. During his campaign, Obama talked much about repairing America's damaged reputation around the world. He kept this promise, apologizing for America at every opportunity. Frankly, I never really cared much what countries like Syria or Russia thought of America. Neither was I losing sleep when brave, strong-spined France criticized us for invading Iraq without UN approval (while they were making under the table deals with Saddam Hussein, buying oil in violation of UN resolutions they themselves signed on for.)

But Eastern Europe was a whole different story from Western Europe. Unlike their western brothers who never had a chance to experience the Disneyland-type bliss of Soviet Union domination, the Eastern Block countries had not forgotten what evil was. They loved George Bush and they loved it when George Bush was willing to use the word evil. Poland and Czechoslovakia did not resemble the spoiled, ungrateful, memory-challenged countries which owed their lives to America for liberation during World War Two. Neither did the Eastern Block have America listed as "one of the most dangerous countries of the world." Instead, they cherished America and comprehended what America stood for. Poland and Czechoslovakia were truly our friends and we sold them up the river. Now, they are so disgusted, they would not even accept Hillary Clinton's phone call which (presumably) was going to explain how everything is really all right. "We can see where it may not look that way."

Sure, things will be fine. I'm confident that if Russia invades Poland, Obama will give a speech, calling for restraint on both sides.
