Yesterday's gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia were huge. It was a blow to the Obama campaign and a glimmer of hope for Republicans. New Jersey has been donkey size thick as a Democratic state for the longest time. But under the skilled leadership of Governor Jon Corzine, their economy is falling apart like a family fortune held for ransom on the wrong number of a roulette table. In desperation, the people elected Republican Chris Cristie, despite Corzine's "civil" campaign that made fun of Christie's weight.
And the former red state of Virginia (having turned a bit purple after electing Obama) voted in Republican, Bob McDonnell to replace incumbent, R. Creigh Deeds by an extremely heavy margin. Republicans also won the race for Attorney-General and Lt. Governor.
If Blue-Dog Democrats in the House and Senate are paying attention, they might just view this as a crystal ball look into the 2010 election in which every seat in the House of Representatives will be up for grabs, along with one third of the Senate and two thirds of the state governorships. It might scare them into deciding not to go along with that lethal Trojan Horse called, "health care."
Today, Obama's spokesman, Robert Gibbs made it clear how uninterested and unconcerned President Obama is with yesterday's election. Hey, I believe him but I believe in the tooth fairy too, so don't go by me. Of course, Obama campaigned on behalf of Corzine three times. Hmm... Perhaps we are not going out on too much of a limb to imagine that he cares just a little. One also has to wonder why the Obama magic did not work, especially since three is the magic number in fairy tales. Could it be that those who gave Obama an A+ as a candidate are forcing themselves to look at his performance as an actual leader? Could it be that they wanted to elect a Messiah but instead are discovering that they elected a mere man, a man who, along with his fellow Democrats and misplaced Marxist ideologies is destroying our country?
