The horrific earthquake and subsequent tsunami waves of Japan are bringing an untold suffering that many of us cannot even begin to imagine. Our hearts go out to the victims and families of the victims. We who have never been through such events have much to be grateful for.
Not that anyone will be completely spared from any aftermath at all. It won't be long before the lectures on Global Warming kick in even though Japan has been having earthquakes long before the pop phrase "Global Warming" was even invented. Doesn't matter. Any phenomenon having to do with water, land, or sky is now part of Global Warming. If your dog knocked a Slurpee out of your hand and it evaporated quickly (helped by Rover's rapturous licking) people would still blame Global Warming or its twin brother, Climate Change.
And just to show you that I'm a fair guy, equally as willing to critique those in my own camp, I dread to think how many Evangelical pulpits will share sermons about the earthquakes predicted for the end times and the Second Coming of Christ this Sunday. If ever there were a week to skip church and catch up on some yard work, this might be the one.
