Quick Election Review With Your Ol' Pal, Bob

As the newscasters and pundits and talk show hosts get ready to give their mouths a post-election vacation (unless this drags on for a month like it did in 2000) your ol’ pal, Bob is going to distill it all down in a quick review that will take only minutes to read. Why do I do this for you?  Because that’s just the kind of guy I am.

The Debates Between the Candidates

OBAMA: I will bring about change.

McCAIN: You’ll bring change? I’m the maverick!

PALIN: Yes… He’s the maverick!

BIDEN: Let’s just get this straight once and for all. McCain is no maverick!

Man, oh man!  Our country is still recovering from the depth of discussion showered upon us from those brilliant exchanges.

The Debates Between the Voters

DEMOCRAT: Why are you voting for McCain?

REPUBLICAN: I’m not voting for McCain. I’m voting for Palin!

DEMOCRAT: No!  You are voting against Obama.

REPUBLICAN: Oh yeah! That too.

DEMOCRAT: Admit it. You don’t want to vote for him, because he’s black.

REPUBLICAN: No, I don’t want to vote for him because he dedicated his own book to a racist, wrote a book review for a terrorist, and toasted a Palestinian who talked about the death of Israel. He also voted against a law that would have stopped infanticide in a hospital. Oh wait. He promised to bankrupt coal workers and tax the rich. He defines rich as “anyone who works.”  Oh…One more thing: He wants to pass Hate Speech Legislation which means that after he gets elected, anyone who speaks against him will be accused of racism. As for the poor chump who dares to ask him a question beyond the border of talking points? I have just three words: Joe the Plumber!

INDEPENDENT: I think you are both biased. For me, I always wait until the end to see who I will vote for and I base it upon objective, intellectual, independent thought.

REPUBLICAN: Such as?

INDEPENDENT:  Well, for instance, in the three debates, McCain frowned too much. He also looked old. Obama looked young. And Obama sounded presidential. I’m glad I was wise enough to reserve my judgment until this sound criteria came forth.

This is Bob Siegel, making the obvious, obvious.

If You Think Gay Marriage Will Not Affect You, Think Again!

On June 23, 2008 I wrote and published the following article over Townhall.  I am sending it out again, because today marks the eve of an important election for people who feel that in the name of tolerance, very little tolerance is being sent their direction, and in the name of judicial activism, our democracy is being overturned. The article is an education, not only about homosexuality and its causes, but the difference between the average homosexual, who wants to be left alone and militant gay activists, who do not in fact speak for all homosexuals.

Bob Siegel

The fifty million dollar question thrown at conservatives these days has to do with gay marriage: “How exactly does it hurt your marriage or your family if two gay people get married?”

On its surface this would seem to be a fair question. Does another person’s marriage have any direct connection to your own?  Of course not. But I think we are missing a much bigger point. As Americans, our lives, our marriages and our families, do not exist in isolation. We are profoundly influenced by the direction of society as a whole. As a pastor, I have counseled many gays and I am sympathetic to their plight. Of course, I can understand their desire to be married and happy like every one else. At the same time, I would be lying if I said that gay marriage does not affect the rest of us. The truth is, one can list many such effects and I will do so right now:

1) THE EFFECT ON YOUR CHILDREN

Even if your children live in a stable, two parent, heterosexual home, you are only one of  many influences in your child’s life.  Homosexuality is being presented today as an alternative lifestyle, even at the kindergarten level!  Books such as, Heather Has Two Mommies are being read to your child at school. In fact, a recent California ruling now forbids the words father and mother in public schools out of respect for gay and transgender families. It is also against the law for any government institution in California to speak negatively of gays.  Although a good deal of this stuff was already going on, the recent court ruling of gay marriage in California gives the militant gay agenda a whole new set of teeth. Please do not try to tell me that these developments will not be affecting your child directly.

2) THE EFFECT ON OTHER PEOPLE’S CHILDREN:

For years we have admitted, as a society, that children are better off in a two-parent home. Yes, there are loving single parents who have done a wonderful job. And yes, there are unhealthy dysfunctional two parent families. But pointing out exceptions to the rule, ignores this giant rule staring us in the face. Ideally, children need a healthy father and a healthy mother. They need both, because men and women are different and each gender has different things to offer in a child’s upbringing. We used to feel free to admit this rather obvious truth. But we have gotten so used to rolling over and playing dead for the militant gay activists, we now try to shove truth under the rug. The more children are raised by fathers and mothers together, the better we will all be as a society. You know that. I know that. Everybody knows that. Studies on ancient Rome and other cultures show that when the family breaks down, the entire country breaks down. So once again, I would say that gay marriage will have a rather large influence upon our joint future as Americans.

3) THE LEGAL EFFECT:

If I thought for one moment that legalized gay marriage would end this matter, I would have less of a problem with it. If I thought the militant gay community would now be satisfied and view things as square, if they could finally admit that they are no longer a persecuted minority and their plight is over, perhaps gay marriage would be something we could all live with.  I would still be concerned, but I could live with it. Unfortunately, the militant gay movement has no such intention and this latest “right” is only a small part of a much bigger agenda.

Now, I do draw a distinction between most homosexuals who want to just be left alone and the militant gay agenda, which claims to speak for the majority. Despite my sympathy to the former, unfortunately, it is the militant gays whom we are being forced to deal with. Let’s be honest: The real militant gay agenda is to someday make it against the law to say that homosexuality is wrong. Oh, they’re smart enough to chip away at it one inch at a time because they know what a stupid country we have become and what a naïve people we have become, but make no mistake; the instigation of Thought Police is the true agenda.  As a matter of fact, that agenda was shamelessly written by Marshal Kirk and Hunger Madsen, as a manifesto back in the late 1980’s.   It was called, After The Ball: How America Will Conquer Its Hatred of Gays in the 1990’s.

This manifesto was an open, strategic mission to launch a patient and persistent legal and media movement whose goal was to silence anti-homosexual speech. The strategy included loveable gay characters on sitcoms who encounter “old fashioned, narrow minded friends.”  But this was only the beginning. In the midst of debates, the soldiers of this cause were to portray anyone who disagreed with homosexuality as some kind of hate monger, even those whom they knew had a love for gays but merely disagreed with the lifestyle.

“Our effect is achieved without reference to facts, logic, or proof…through repeated infra logical emotional conditioning, the person’s beliefs can be altered whether he is conscious of the attack or not. Indeed, the more he is distracted by even specious, surface arguments, the less conscious he will be of the true nature of the process.  In short, jamming succeeds insofar as it inserts even the slightest doubt and shame into the previously held unalloyed beliefs regarding heterosexuality and homosexuality" (pg 152-153 )

But calling someone a “homophobe” or “ hate filled” does not go far enough today.  After achieving the goals of  guilt and “greater sensitivity”, the militant gays are trying their hand at actual speech legislation.  Such legislation has already passed in Canada.  Now they’re trying to jam it through in the United States under the guise of Hate Crime.  Since violent crimes are already crimes, judging motives such as “hate” really makes Hate Crime Law, Hate Speech Law.  Saying that you love the homosexual but simply disapprove of his actions isn’t enough. You will still be branded as hateful and this will be in the name of tolerance. Christians and other conservatives must be tolerant of the opinion that homosexuality is natural.   Of course, homosexuals need not be tolerant of the fact that we might have another point of view.

The recent ruling in California is bound to open up a Pandora’s Box full of litigation. I am just waiting for pastors to be sued for not being willing to perform gay marriages. Supposedly, there is this thing called “separation between church and state” that the Left likes to keep ringing in our ears. But the separation never seems to work both ways, does it? We hear all the time about how the church must never interfere with the state. But supposedly this “separated state” is allowed to interfere with the church if the church holds a viewpoint it doesn’t like. Already, a Methodist church in New Jersey was sued for not allowing a gay couple to get have a civic untion ceremony on their property. They lost the case and lost their tax exemption.  They don’t even have legal gay marriage in New Jersey. Can you just imagine what’s going to start happening in California

4) THE PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFECT

Since homosexuality is emotionally unstable and psychologically abnormal, exposing kids to the lie that it is natural, harms the child’s  healthy development. If this is true of the children being indoctrinated from kindergarten on up, one can only imagine the confusion passed on to children being raised by gay couples. I do not suggest that gay couples are unloving. I merely point out the dysfuntionality.

I know! The fat is in the fire now! Somebody had to say it! It might as well be me. Too many conservatives dance around this issue. They are willing to call gay marriage wrong but they are unwilling to call homosexuality itself wrong. Well, let’s be clear. If there is nothing wrong with being gay then there is nothing wrong with gay marriage and gay people make good sense when they point that out.  Unfortunately, it begs the more obvious question: Is there indeed something wrong with homosexuality?  Yes there is.  It causes psychological harm.  I do not say this to sound condemning or to make anyone feel unwarranted guilt, but the truth is, people are involving themselves in a process that is unnatural.  This was the widespread teaching of the American Psychiatric Association prior to the year 1973.  Many people are unaware of the circumstances which led to homosexuality being declassified as an emotional disorder by the APA.  You may never have heard about the pressure from gay activists and gay psychiatrists who were involved in the meetings.  You should know that the discussions leading to the vote were not characterized with scholarly study but rather a great deal of fear.  In fact, so extended was the pressure, that only one third of the ballots sent out were ever returned.  Out of those returned, only 58 percent agreed to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.  Get that?  58 percent out of the one third returned or about 19 percent overall!

Prior to this time, homosexuals not only sought help from psychologists but also received healing.  Dr. Charles Socarides, who had successfully treated gays for more than 20 years ,said that the militant gay movement was responsible for “the greatest medical hoax of the century.” 1

Although  many gay people sincerely claim that they cannot remember a time when they weren’t attracted to the same sex, that does not necessarily mean they were born homosexuals.  Elizabeth Moberly, a research Psychologist for Oxford and Cambridge, explains this by pointing out that people absorb their key influences of sexual orientation between the ages of 2 and 5, a time in life most of us would not remember anyway.2

Even molecular biologist, Dean Hammer of the National Cancer Institute, who headed one of the famous studies which sought to find genetic explanations, said, “Our studies try to pinpoint the genetic factors, not to negate the psycho-social factors.” 3

It may someday be discovered that there are two types of homosexuality, a learned behavior and a genetic predisposition.  In either case, the homosexual in all likelihood did not choose his/her sexual orientation and should not be blamed for inward feelings or impulses.  Likewise, in either case, the acting out of such impulses would still be unnatural behavior.  It is believed that one can be born with a predisposition toward alcoholism too, but we would not encourage an alcoholic to drink.

“If homosexuality is really so unnatural how come most people don’t view it that way?”

Actually, I am convinced that most people do.  They have trouble admitting this because of today’s political climate which has been growing now for over three decades.

I went to high school in the early seventies coming out of a home so sheltered that for years I had never even heard of homosexuality.  When I discovered that certain fellow actors in my High School drama department were gay, my initial response was one of repulsion despite the fact that they were very nice people.  Of course, in a theater atmosphere people quickly learn to dismiss such feelings as rigid and old fashioned.  So, in no time at all I decided that varying sexual  lifestyles must be respected.  There was no room for judgment and back woods thinking.  In hindsight, it is interesting to note that my first reaction had nothing to do with the Bible because I wasn’t even a Christian or Bible believer at the time.  I was merely making a simple, obvious observation that men were meant for women and vice-versa.  Still, in time, it was easier to accept the idea that my feelings were outdated than to consider the possibility that the majority opinion may be mistaken.

But what does the majority really think?  That is the interesting question.  Have you ever seen a sitcom where two men danced or one man accidentally kissed another?  We see it all the time.  It’s a common device and we laugh all the time.  It’s an easy guaranteed laugh.  Consider the finale of Cheers.  Two gay lovers were in the middle of a quarrel when one pleaded with his partner calling him by the pet name “Muffin”.  The audience laughed hysterically and I'm sure the producers felt that this was a very progressive episode because of a willingness to portray gay romance as normal.  One question:  Why did people laugh?  Why did the writers obviously intend for people to laugh?  What is funny about a man calling his lover “Muffin”?  If indeed we recognize the normality of that relationship, what exactly strikes us as humorous?

Centuries ago, Hans Christian Anderson illustrated the value of a simple childlike mind.  Remember his story of The Emperor's New Clothes?  A charlatan tailor, wanting to rook the king of a fortune, fashioned him a set of “fine apparel.”  There was one stipulation;  Only intelligent people could see these clothes.  Of course, the clothes didn't really exist, so nobody ever really saw them.  But nobody wanted to be viewed as unintelligent either. “If I can't see the clothes” one reasoned to himself,  “the problem must be with me.  After all, every one else sees them.”

You remember the rest.  At a grand parade, one small child tugged his mother's skirt and said,  “But Mommie, he's not wearing any clothes.”

Nakedness was once nakedness.  Now, as the result of one clever tailor, the word “naked” in relation to the king was politically incorrect.

Could this same tailor have visited the United States?  Maybe what we need today is an innocent child, like the one in the fairy tale; some red faced, nose running kid, who hasn't studied genetics, hasn't studied psychology, hasn't studied scripture and hasn't had sensitivity training.  All he knows is what he sees and feels. Maybe if something looks unnatural it is unnatural.  Maybe we all know the truth and are afraid to admit it.  Maybe the king isn't wearing any clothes.

This is Bob Siegel, making the obvious, obvious.

Look Who Endorses Him Now

OK, OK!  So Obama had a few questionable associations in the past. The American people don't want to hear about all that. They just care about the issues. They just want a man to take care of them financially. You remember the old saying, "Once you feed a cat, you never lose it." And that's the good news here. If we let Obama feed us, we will never lose him!  Hey, Chris Mathews, does that send a chill up your leg?

Besides, if we really want to judge a man; we should judge his record in the present. So let's take a look. Let's see who endorses Obama for president, now, today!

Louis Farrakhan
Hugo Chavez
Hamas
George Soros

All of the above gave public endorsements.

ALSO: William Ayers (although he is laying low due to the trouble he is causing Obama now), did endorse him in the past. I know I am going out on a great, big limb here. Call me a romantic, but when a man holds a party in his house for Obama, proclaiming it as a kick off for his campaign, I think we can kind of, sort of, view that as an endorsement. Since Myers is a self-confessed, unrepentant terrorist, who hates the United States and wants to see us turned into a Marxist government, one must question exactly what it is about Obama that he likes so much.

Now, in all fairness, we have not yet heard from the Hitlerite Ahamadinnejad about Obama. But we have heard from Obama about him! Obama would have unconditional peace talks with Ahamadinnejad.

Hmm. I guess that would explain the other endorsements.

I Love England, But Sometimes I Think We Can Get By With A Little Less Help From Our Friends

A few months ago, on my blog and my radio show, I made a prediction.  As I always admit, my predictions are nothing spectacular. Any thinking person can say the same things and many have. I suggested that if McCain won the election, Republicans would be charged with voter fraud. It will be said that African-Americans were literally turned away from the polls. It will also be taught that those who voted against Obama did so only because of racism.

Again, nothing really original here, although most speculate that the accusation will happen only if McCain wins by a small margin. For myself, I am convinced that the charges above will be leveled even if McCain wins by a landslide!

Anyway, last night I expanded my prediction over the air. I was guest hosting The Rick Amato Show on KCBQ 1170, San Diego. During the second hour, while talking with a caller, I made a two-fold forecast. First, I said that even at this twelfth hour, I now believe McCain will actually win. That part of my guess work (although sincere) is not something I would  bet the farm on. But the other part of my prediction, I am sure of: If McCain wins, not only will charges of fraud and racism be spewed forth, violence will accompany the accusations.

This morning, Dennis Prager made the exact same prediction about the violence. I do not mention this due to any joy of “beating Prager to the punch” by one day. Indeed, I have always felt the greatest admiration for Dennis Prager. Normally I would be honored, if only to have accidentally said something similar to one of the clearest thinkers in our generation. Unfortunately, what I share with Prager is sadness. He hopes he is wrong about his speculation. I also hope I am wrong. Unfortunately I don’t believe either one of us is mistaken.

Naturally, charges of racism have already been shot forth like cannon balls from multitudes of Obama surrogates, helped along, ironically, by some of our “sophisticated friends” in Europe. There are many such talking heads whose words pop the pond to enlighten us poor, dumb Americans, but the one that jumps to my mind is Russell Brand.  You remember Russell. He hosted this year’s MTV Awards.  This British Actor/Comedian absolutely delighted the audience. How?   First he described Sarah Palin as, “a Vice- president I’d like to…fumble, fondle, I dunno. I do feel a little bit sorry for her daughter, getting pregnant, poor kid. Is it a boy? Is it a girl? It’s a P.R. stunt. Come on. Be honest.”

After flashing his credentials as a lecher, Brand somehow felt inspired enough to keep on talking. He preceded to give our country a stern, loving admonition, the kind a little kid would expect from his older, wiser and  more experienced (if only sexually experienced) older brother: “"Please elect Barack Obama. Please... On behalf of the world. Some people... Some people, I think they're called racists, say America is not ready for a black president. But, I know America to be a forward thinking country, right? Because, otherwise, you know, you would have let that retarded cowboy fellow be president for 8 years? We were very impressed.  It was nice of you to let that one go because in England George Bush wouldn't be trusted with a pair of scissors."

Isn’t this delightful?  I’m sure the audience felt a bolt of electricity just being in the same room with such an ingenious wit; such a paragon of profound ponderings.  Hey, Russell, I have a question for you: How many black Prime Ministers have there been in the history of England?  Oh, I’m sorry. Maybe you haven’t heard of History. It’s that subject you slept through after Sex Education. Anyway, Russell, the answer is none! Nip! Zip! Zadda! Nadda!  And frankly, I don’t remember any black presidents in France or Germany either  (The other two countries who enjoy giving us unsolicited advice). As a matter of fact, how many of our worst critics have progressed within even a shadow of America? No matter what the outcome, an African-American has been nominated in our country. I guess that isn’t enough. He also has to win, or it automatically means we have not evolved one millimeter from the days of slavery.

Now then, my Leftist friends, listen up, please, be ye European or be ye American! Here’s an idea. Is it possible, even remotely possible, that our concern about Obama has nothing to do with race? Only a thought. Maybe, just maybe, our reservation has to do with values. You are aware that many African-Americans are not voting for Obama. And you are aware that countless white Conservatives would have put Clarence Thomas or Condoleezza Rice into office without hesitation. Oh, yes!  One more observation. Perhaps you remember our last election. We didn’t like John Kerry either, Guess what! He’s white! That’s right! He’s white as a can of Starfish Tuna but I would have voted for the can of Starfish Tuna before casting my lot for that blowhard! That’s because I didn’t share Kerry’s values. I’m more interested in sharing a man’s values than his skin color. On the other hand, Obama and Kerry do share many of the same values.

True, there are even greater concerns with Obama, but the articulation of such concern seems to fall upon deaf ears. I guess it’s inconceivable that we might object to a man who supports mandatory redistribution of wealth, who voted in favor of infanticide and who helped raise money for a self professed, unrepentant terrorist who brags about his past and only laments that he didn’t do more. Oh, and the fact that Obama has proven he will silence anyone who disagrees with him publicly? I don’t suppose we have any reason to be concerned about that one! Oh no! It must be racism! Clearly! Absolutely! This is racism of the worst kind!

Care to hear an even greater irony? There are some, who, when reading this blog, will only notice the statement;  “…such concern falls upon deaf ears.”  They will think I meant to insult the deaf and will not catch the real theme of the essay. God save America.

Is The Electoral College a Good or a Bad Idea?

Yesterday I got the following question from one of my regular readers:

“Hi Bob,

Can you explain popular vote versus electoral vote?  I don't quite understand it.”

It had not occurred to me before that many intelligent people may find our electoral system a bit perplexing. But the thought should have crossed my mind. After all, it’s a very strange system indeed, and the confusion is more than understandable. For this reason, I’m happy to explain it. Those of you who already know this stuff; hang on until the end of the article, because at that time, I will add my own critique of our electoral college:

Explanation:

Each state, depending upon its size, gets a certain number of electoral votes. What that means, is that a select group of people, known as electors, vote on behalf of their state. For example, in my own state of California, we have 55 electoral votes. In the next election, they will first take a popular vote. The popular vote comes from every voting resident of California. We go to the polls, we cast our vote, and we see who gets the most, Obama or McCain. Now, each will get millions of votes, but one of the two candidates will come out ahead, maybe even by a small margin. Assuming Obama wins the majority of the popular votes, the 55 California electors will then cast ALL 55 votes for Obama!  This means, even if he beats McCain by only 3 votes, Obama will still get all 55 electoral votes and McCain will get none.  The same is true in every other state. The smaller the state, the smaller the amount of electoral votes.

In summary: Each state chooses its president and sends their electors out to vote on their behalf. The candidate who wins the majority of the states wins the election.

-Winning the majority of the states is the
electoral vote.
-The amount of people who voted in every state added up altogether for a grand total across the country is the
popular vote.
-It is therefore possible for a candidate to win the popular vote but lose the electoral vote.
-If he loses the electoral vote, he loses the election, even if the majority of Americans voted for him.

Critique:

Although, on a first glance, it would seem that the popular vote is fairer, it may be prudent for us to take a step back and remember that our wise forefathers did not want to see the country ruled by a mob. Although America certainly has elements of a democracy, we were primarily set up to be a republic.  Just parsing that very word republic, representatives (supposedly, ideally) are bringing their wisdom, ethics and experience to Washington on behalf of the public.

In 2000, when Bush won the electoral vote, but lost the popular vote, Hillary Clinton immediately went on record to say that the Electoral College should be overhauled, leaving a straight popular vote in its place. This alone should give us pause. Who knew best what was healthy for our country, Thomas Jefferson or Hillary Clinton?

You see, our forefathers were big believers in state’s rights. In essence, they viewed America, not as one country but as a federation of many little countries working together, even though they used word states instead. But what do we call our country at large?  Do we call it America?  No, that is actually the nickname. The true title is The United States of America.  There is a sovereignty that every state is entitled to. That’s why, regardless of its size, every state gets the same number of senators going to Washington. On the other hand, size is still taken into consideration with the House of Representatives, giving the system check and balance.

The rights of states are important in an election as well. Think about it. If we were going for a strict popular vote, how many states would candidates campaign in? They could practically squeak through by campaigning in New York City and Los Angeles alone, where our greatest populations reside.  This means the needs of Wyoming or New Hampshire could be ignored. Campaign promises could be withheld from smaller populations and whole states left out of the process.

When I was in High School and College, I thought I knew everything. I don’t know nearly as much today as I did back then. Back in my youth, I would have said, “Let’s switch to a popular vote.” That sounded good. I even wrote a paper about it as a High School senior. I suppose the paper was well written enough. Only one problem: I simply did not know what I was talking about.

This is Bob Siegel, attempting to make the incredibly complex, confusing election obvious.

Any Other Candidate Would Have Been Out of the Race

It Was The Best of Times, It Was The Worst of Times, It Was The L.A. Times

By now, many of you know of this latest smoking gun, but just in case you have not been following the news, just in case you’ve been sick or have been dead…. Here is a small excerpt from Fox News (October 28) regarding The Los Angeles Times:

The Los Angeles Times is refusing to release a videotape that it says shows Barrack Obama praising a Chicago professor who was an alleged mouthpiece for the Palestine Liberation Organization while it was a designated terrorist group in the 1970s and '80s.

According to an LA Times article written by Peter Wallsten in April, Obama was a "friend and frequent dinner companion" of Rashid Khalidi, who from 1976 to1982 was reportedly a director of the official Palestinian press agency, WAFA, which was operating in exile from Beirut with the PLO.

In the article -- based on the videotape obtained by the Times -- Wallsten said Obama addressed an audience during a 2003 farewell dinner for Khalidi, who was Obama's colleague at the University of Chicago, before his departure for Columbia University in New York. Obama said his many talks with Khalidi and his wife Mona stood as "consistent reminders to me of my own blind spots and my own biases."

Khalidi is currently the Edward Said professor of Arab Studies at Columbia. A pro-Palestinian activist, he has been a fierce critic of American foreign policy and of Israel, which he has accused of establishing an "apartheid system" of government. The PLO advocate helped facilitate negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians in the early '90s, but he has denied he was ever an employee of the group, contradicting accounts in the New York Times and Washington Times.

The LA Times told FOXNews.com that it won't reveal how it obtained the tape of Khalidi's farewell party, nor will the newspaper release it. Spokeswoman Nancy Sullivan said the paper is not interested in revisiting the story. "As far as we're concerned, the story speaks for itself," she said.

And now, an important update: The Los Angeles Times claims they agreed not to reveal their source and not to show this video, back when they obtained the video. Allow me to make a few personal observations:

I do accept the idea of confidential sources as part of journalistic integrity. But I must be honest: I have not seen a whole lot of journalistic integrity from the mainstream media in quite a while.  To say they have been in the tank for Obama is one of the great understatements of the 21st Century. That they do this while arrogantly laughing at the bias of Fox News and Talk Radio is one of the great ironic hypocrisies of the 21th century.

Originally, the L.A. Times simply said they refused to release the video. They said nothing about protecting a source until they came under fire and criticism. Why didn't they talk about this protected source right from the beginning?  Wouldn't that have stopped the controversy dead in its tracks? This makes me wonder if they are speaking the truth. It should make any thinking person wonder. Besides, (if I may make one of those obvious boneheaded observations) supposedly, the person who gave them the video, had every intention of spilling the beans, but did not want the video shown . This leaves us to suspend belief and accept the idea that somebody wanted the story released but not the video. Why? Because the video reveals more detail? Who would choose to blow the whistle, provide proof, but then not want the most persuasive elements displayed?  Just questions. This much we know: The Los Angeles Times has endorsed Obama. That is fine. Most newspapers will endorse a candidate, but can you just imagine some video about McCain at a Nazi rally or Ku Klux Klan meeting with the L.A. Times refusing to release the video?  If you believe that would happen, allow me to introduce my two good friends, Santa  Claus and  The Easter  Bunny! And now, here’s one you do not need to imagine: It’s about The Los Angeles Times' east coast cousin, The New York Times. While one smoking gun after another comes out about Obama and his “casual associations of the past,” The New York Times does a front page headline story about Sarah Palin’s expensive wardrobe. Never mind that she did not buy the clothes. Never mind that the McCain campaign bought them for her, that she is only using them, that after they are returned, the money will be given to charity and the only reason such clothes were rented in the first place is that Sarah Palin is the only candidate in the race who is not independently wealthy and cannot afford such clothes herself. And never mind that the ridicule is coming from the Democratic Party which likes to squawk at those “Rich Republicans.”  Never mind all that. This is a HUGE STORY, much bigger than Obama’s humble, little expositions.

While we're on the subject of simple observations:

He raised funds for a self-confessed, unrepentant terrorist. This does not concern them. He sat for 20 years in the church of a racist pastor who was never too shy about his opinions. Still, he looked up to his pastor enough to name a book after one of his sermons and enough to have his children baptized by him. This does not concern them. He trained people in the corrupt voter fraud organization, ACORN. This does not concern them. He used his powers as Senator to shut down a political ad that criticized him and by an amazing coincidence, Joe the Plumber was audited by the IRS just days after daring to ask him a question. This does not concern them. If he comes into power, he, along with the Democratic Congress, will shut down Talk Radio under the lie of “fairness.”  To do such a thing, he will have to ignore the First Amendment. This does not concern them. Speaking of the constitution, another old recording for Public Radio came out just recently in which he confessed a desire to have judges change our constitution so as to legally redistribute wealth. This does not concern them.  He will sit down and have peace talks with the Hitlarite Ahamadinnejad. This does not concern them. Finally, (not that it’s the last, but we don’t have time to read a whole phone book of culpabilities) he voted against the Illinois Infant Protection Act which wanted to make infanticide illegal, (not abortion, infanticide) This does not concern them. But Sarah Palin’s wardrobe? That concerns them!

Yes sir!  I do respect journalistic integrity.

SPECIAL NOTE: Sadly, even if they prove that Obama supports the Palestinian terrorists, many college age people will not care, due to the horrible Anti-Semitism and historical revision about Israel and Palelstine being taught at our universities. If you do not understand what is going on in the Middle East, you do not understand the world we live in right now. For your convenience, a link to my important and revealing Townhall series about Israel and Palestine has been provided.

That Was The Year I Didn't Vote and I Never Regretted It!

I believe people should be forced to take a basic intelligence test before they are allowed to vote.

Stop!  Stop right there!  I know what some of you are thinking! You are ready to call that a racist comment. Am I correct? Or, should I say, are you Politically Correct?

Well, chill out. Take a deep breath and relax. I am not talking about Jim Crow laws.  I mean EVERYBODY should be forced to take this test. This is not a racial thing. Believe me, I have met many stupid white people in my time. We should have to take the test whether we are white, African American, Hispanic, Asian, male, female, gay or straight, Martian or Earthling.

Why do I say this? Because people watching the last two debates are telling me Obama won. When I ask why they think he won, I hear any number of the following:

“Obama looked calm and cool. McCain seemed agitated.”

“Obama is young. McCain is old.”

“McCain seemed to have a frown on his face.”

So, let me see if I understand all this:

Our country is about to elect as president, a man who supports infanticide, unconditional talks with dictators, two bills that would eliminate free speech and mandatory redistribution of wealth. (Those are his own words and they are open words describing Socialism.)

This man also objected to a bill that would have stopped banks from being bullied into giving out loans to people who cannot afford to pay them. And his own campaign has funded ACORN, responsible for one of  the greatest mass voter frauds ever perpetrated upon our country.

Finally, he promises to raise taxes in the middle of a bad recession, The last president to try that brilliant maneuver was Herbert Hoover. Gee, that went over well. Good one, Herb.

Oh, I almost forgot his racist pastor, his terrorist friend and his Jew hating Palestinian associate whom he hopes liberal Democratic Jews will forget about when he brags about how Pro-Israel he is.

When asked by Rick Warren if evil existed, he could not say yes without immediately reminding us that the United States has also done evil things. He was praised for giving a “nuanced” answer.

When asked about Russia invading Georgia, he called upon “both sides to exercise restraint.” However, in this instance, we should cut him some slack. He was probably confused and thought Georgia was that state between South Carolina and Florida. Since in his mind, America is always responsible when attacked, he called upon restraint. Had he known Georgia was a foreign country, he might have defended her sooner.

And what are the positive qualities? What are his credentials? That he once collected funds for Bill Ayers, supporting a program that taught radical Marxism and revolutionary theory to college students? Or are his qualifications that he wrote his own autobiography? Maybe he deserves the job because he has been running for president for two years now and such hard work should be rewarded.  True, he was a senator as well.  What did he accomplish as a  Senator?   He ran for president.

And we are going to put this man in office, why exactly?  Because McCain looks old? Because McCain frowned?  Because McCain can't talk as smoothly?

I said it before and I’ll say it again. There should be a comprehensive written exam before people are allowed to vote.

When I was a young Democrat in college, I voted for George McGovern. I knew nothing about him, except that he was against the Vietnam War. I am not happy about that vote but it never mattered anyway. The man lost by a landslide. During the next election, when Carter ran against Ford, I was a little older (just a little) and a little wiser. Because of my wisdom I decided not to vote that year. Why? Because I had been too busy with college and social life to take an interest in politics. That was wrong of me. I should have taken an interest in politics, but I hadn’t. I could have voted anyway. I could have said, “It’s my right and privilege as an American and by golly, I’m going to vote!”

Instead, I was forced to look myself in the eye and admit that if I had (by choice) become too ignorant to understand one candidate from another, my vote would have been based upon “Eanie, Meanie, Minie, Moe.” Or worse, I would have voted for the Democratic candidate, only because I was a Democrat.  I decided not to vote that year. I have never regretted the decision. I wish more people would do the same.

On the Eve of the Most Important Election Ever Facing Our Country

On the eve of the most important election ever facing our country, I am sending some links to older (but incredibly relevant blogs) both about Prop 8 and the truth about Obama.

Please forward these to anyone whom you think needs to be challenged. We are running out of time, my friends.

Warmest Regards

Any Other Candidate Would Have Been Out of the Race

When video came out of his pastor who spewed forth vile hatred in a church he attended for twenty years, Obama said he did not know his pastor was a racist. If this one thing had happened with any other candidate, he would have been out of the race.

When evidence was put forth that he helped a self professed, unrepentant terrorist raise funds for the indoctrination of college students, Obama said he did not know the man that well. If this one thing had happened with any other candidate, he would have been out of the race.

When we heard about his 12 year friendship with a Palestinian professor at Columbia University who supports terrorist attacks against Israel, Obama said he did not know the professor that well. If this one thing had happened with any other candidate, he would have been out of the race.

When asked to release records of his close association with the voter fraud group, ACORN, Obama said he was not involved enough to know them well. If this one thing had happened with any other candidate, he would have been out of the race.

When asked by a plumber about taxes being raised, Obama accidentally used a coded Socialist phrase, "Spread the wealth around."  If this Freudian slip had been committed by any other candidate, he would have been out of the race.

When asked if he would meet with anti-American dictators without pre-conditions, this time, Obama stepped out of character, proudly admitting that he would do exactly that. If this one thing had happened with any other candidate, he would have been out of the race.

When Russia attacked Georgia, Obama asked both sides to show restraint. If this one thing had happened with any other candidate, he would have been out of the race.

AND NOW: A possible future!

Four years later, when Obama came close to finishing his first term as president, when America lost its ability to fight Islamo-Fascist terror and fell into economic depression, Obama said those things happened only because George Bush had been president before him. He then proceeded to run for re-election, and was taken out of the race.

Are Words More Responsible For Actions Than Actions?

A horrible assassination plot against Barack Obama has been uncovered by some evil, modern day Nazis.  I join fellow Conservatives all over the country in denouncing this outrage and extending gratitude that the wicked plan was discovered in time. We may have misgivings about Obama, but we renounce barbarism wherever we see it and Obama did not deserve this.

Now, it is prediction time once again. Somebody out there in the Liberal media will hold Talk Radio and other conservative speech responsible for the attempted violence. Supposedly, people are not responsible for their actions. Actions are made possible only with words. We will hear about the "Republican hate machine." Wise talking heads will say they hope Conservatives have learned their lesson. "Conservatives must tone down their rhetoric,"  they will lecture, with smug self-righteousness. Of course, the only examples they can find of such "rhetoric" is that Obama's socialist policies are actually being labeled by some as "socialist." Or perhaps they mean that asking questions about Obama's less than stellar associations should be off limits. The fact that George Bush has been compared to Hitler for 8 years does not concern them. The fact that a British host on MTV said he wanted to fondle Sarah Palin, does not concern them. Neither are they tremendously bothered that a Los Angeles Halloween decoration displays Sarah Palin hanging by a noose. Doesn't matter. All Hate Speech is on the right. Why? Because it's the right, silly!

Joe Versus the Volcano

Joe Biden was interviewed by a local ABC affiliate station in Florida. Immediately following the program, the Obama campaign cut off the station, vowing to never again grant another interview. That was all they could do at this juncture. After all, the Fairness Doctrine cannot be imposed until after Obama comes into office. But at least they took a stand against “outrageous journalism” What exactly was the outrage? It seems the “biased” reporter; Barbara West really had some nerve. She dared to ask a probing question. You see, Biden and Obama are used to questions like, “What‘s your shoe size?” or “Do you think you’ll beat McCain by a landslide or only by a small margin?” or “Do you think the very word, ‘White House’ is racist?”

Instead, Barbara West asked if Obama’s economic policies were Marxist.

Jaw Breaker Joe almost hit the floor. “Are you kidding?” he said. “Is this a serious question?”

West assured him she was quite serious. Joe tried to ward off this unexpected volcanic eruption by asking West what she could possibly be talking about and I must say, he delivered an Oscar caliber performance.  Joe really did manage to make himself look astonished. We (the dumb viewers) were supposed to suspend belief and assume that Obama’s little discussion with Joe the Plumber hadn’t been all over the news or that Obama’s 2001 interview with Chicago Public Radio had not recently turned up over the internet.

In any event, Barbara West quoted Obama’s words about spreading wealth around.

“Obama never said that!” Joe insisted. It reminded me of his debate with Palin. Remember?  Every single time Biden said, “Let’s just get the record straight,” he proceeded to lie through his teeth.

Biden and Obama have gotten quite good at this. One would think that in the age of video and the age of YouTube, politicians would realize that their words of the past are still preserved for posterity, including auditory sound bites that dumped out of their big mouths like Yosemite Falls only a few days ago. Why do they deny what is plain to see and plain to hear? The answer is simple. The answer is also tragic. Our public and our media have led them to believe that they can get away with historical revision, even when the facts of history are readily available.

Future generations will marvel over this. Historians and political analysts will try to explain one of two things:

1) How our society managed to put these men in office

OR

2) How our society ALMOST put these men in office.

It’s not too late yet. We can still go for Option Two. Better to lament what we almost did than to have an administration where brave anchorwomen like Barbara West are not even allowed to be on the air.

Do You Want Jefferson's Constitution or Obamas'?

Have you heard the latest? An Obama interview audiotape has been uncovered from the year 2001. In this Chicago interview, he uses the term wealth redistribution, admitting his true intentions long before the era of "Joe the Plumber." But this time, there is an important wrinkle. In context, Obama is calling our constitution a flawed document and lamenting the fact that judicial activism has not gone far enough to change it.  The only real surprise here is that people view this as news. Why exactly, should we be surprised?  Haven't we been paying attention? On the campaign trail, he talks in circles but we could still read between the lines. Back when he was not running for president, this "Messiah" spoke more directly.

Oh well!  The guy said from the beginning that he wanted to bring about change, and that, my friends, is one of the few things the man has not lied about.

This is Bob Siegel, making the obvious, obvious.
