It was a college radio station at Oregon State University. I was a guest that week doing a series of
evangelistic talks and the campus radio station had agreed to have me on for an
hour. The spunky, female undergrad host went into the interview with an already
formed opinion about evangelical Christians. It became apparent right away that
she was going to ask me only about the controversial issues, subjects like abortion where she was sure my opinion
would smack in the face of ninety-nine percent of the student population.
It is difficult to respond to a series of quick questions with fast,
brief, sound bite answers, but I did my best.
“What is your opinion of abortion?” She asked
“Abortion? I believe in the rights
of all women, including baby woman.”
A look of surprise and confusion came over her face as she quickly
changed the subject to see if she could nail me with the next one.
