There Is One Thing Refreshing About Obama

You have to hand it to our President: Inasmuch as he is out of step with Americans on almost every single issue including, health care, Cap and Trade, stimulus, redistribution of wealth, the war on terror, the Ground Zero mosque, and, well, you can fill in the rest of the blanks yourself; And inasmuch as the plummeting polls do not seem to be concerning him, it is becoming increasingly more apparent that Obama cares more about sticking to his radical viewpoints than getting re-elected. Let's be honest, this can be admired.  He's less of a politician and more of an ideologue.

Now, if only his particular ideology wasn't a dangerous, poisonous, venomous, economy busting, enemy appeasing, freedom hating, speech nullifying, lie fed system which threatens to destroy our once great country....

Obama Explains America's Fear Of Muslims

Have you been confused? Are you wondering why all this unfounded paranoia toward the beautiful religion of peace wreaks havoc upon our over reacting country? Well be of good cheer! Barry the Brilliant has carried the day once again. At a press conference, Obama was asked why the country seems to have a greater fear of Muslims these days. The response was utter genius. You see, when things are already going wrong, you know, the economy and stuff like that, it raises people's anxiety over other matters as well.

Hmm...Yeah... Of course. Why didn't the rest of us figure this out? I can see so much more clearly now. President Obama certainly lifted the fog. Of course, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to briefly consider another possibility: Militant Muslims have declared war on America, slammed American planes into buildings, beheaded Americans, warned Americans to convert or die, and threatened to kill anybody who calls the Koran a violent book. Meanwhile, these same Muslims go out of their way to obey the violent commands which actually are in the book.

Or perhaps, it's that goal of Sharia Law for America which gives us the creeps, especially since we see how certain Muslim countries enforce Brigadoon bliss type judicial systems, i.e. executing Christians, homosexuals, women seen in public with men who are not their husbands, and anybody else who disobeys that peaceful collection of sacred scriptures.

And then there's this Ground Zero mosque. Mosques built upon sights of Muslim led destruction are viewed by Jihadists as a sign of victory over infidels. And the Imam who wants to head this mosque praises the cutthroat organization Hamas in Arabic. In English he doesn't go quiet that far. He merely avoids questions about Hamas and warns that the Muslim elements not quite as moderate as himself will murder a bunch of Americans if that mosque isn't darn well completed. Finally, in the name of "building bridges between people," Fiesal Rauf blames all objections to the mosque on Islamophobia. His wife goes even further, calling it "hatred" and a new form of "anti-Semitism," forgetting to mention that one of the most anti-Semitic books in history is the Koran.

Having said that....Yeah...Obama is probably right. If not for the economy, we wouldn't be upset with
Muslims in such an irrational, unfounded way.

Be Careful, My Fellow Conservatives. We're Not Out Of This Yet.

Conservatives are in near euphoria as November approaches. All reliable polls suggest that Republicans will take back the House. Some indicators even see the Senate changing hands.

Assuming Obama doesn't create some crisis and find a way to blame Conservatives, I am planning a celebration on election night. But only a brief one. Then, we must get ready for 2012. Say what you want about our president, the man knows how to make gullible people eat out of his hand. He plays the crowd as well as he plays golf. (And almost as often.)  True, many are waking up. But these same yawning, coffee drinking souls who elected this Pied Piper in the first place, can fall under his trance again at the drop of a medicine man's hat.

Consider this: If two years from now, our economy is doing better, Obama will grab all the credit. This is exactly what happened when Bill Clinton was reelected after two years of a Republican House/Senate takeover. To this day, Democratic talking points boast of the great economy George Bush inherited from Clinton. Republicans get no congratulations whatsoever. Indeed, Speaker Of The House, Newt Gingrich was vilified by periodicals such as Time Magazine, with their shameless, but effective, cover story: The Gingrich Who Stole Christmas. Ironically, the "greedy, Capitalist politics" of Gingrich are the exact same policies Clinton took a bow for.  Yet, what do people remember? Gingrich the Greedy and Clinton the Fiscally Wise. Watch for a remake of this motion picture should Republicans reclaim Congress and rescue our evaporating economy.

On the other hand, if things have not turned around two years from now, Obama has the perfect scapegoat. If you thought he enjoyed playing his favorite George Bush wild card, just wait until you hear all those tear jerker speeches about mean, nasty, non cooperating Republicans refusing to even consider his compassionate, Marxist ideas. Heck, he blames them even now for what he can't accomplish, even though Republicans have virtually zero voting power.

Last week, I wrote a blog about Obama's new mantra: "Republicans are the Party of No."  Liberals are great at those mindless, yet successful, head jamming methods. True, such Romper Room style tactics treat adults like children, but what can I say? Much as we wish people would use their heads and actually think for themselves, human beings tend to activate their votes before activating their brains.

Even as I write, the current Republican leadership is going back and forth about how much to cooperate with the forthcoming tax vote. They come across as desperate men, trying in vain to avoid the title partisan as if that meant something other than standing by a true, heart felt conviction and as if Democrats were not the most partisan species ever to grace our fair planet.

I must strongly urge any victorious Republican politicians to be savoy, yet uncompromising, after they take back Congress. Many (not all, but many) Republicans are notorious for standing by their values while running for office or holding down the fort as the minority party. Then, once that taste of power tickles the tongue, they turn complacent and worry more about what the New York Times editorial page will write about them then what the very people who put them in office expect. Will Republicans want to be criticized for "repealing our  marvelous, compassionate health care?"  Will they be able to handle the false but sure to be used title "racist and bigot" for reasserting anti-terrorist policies and confronting Radical Islam head on?  Are they going to stand their ground about tax cuts and spending cuts despite the lie that being frugal means they only care about rich people? Can Senators and Congressmen stomach being painted as "uncooperative," even when they know deep inside that to refuse cooperation with our present course might just be the only action which saves America from disaster? Do they realize the main stream media will (with Obama's help) paint them as demons no matter what they do? Have they finally figured out that they may as well just do what is right?

Make no mistake: 2010 is only a prologue, like that smaller book entitled, The Hobbit. Tolkien's first novel was nothing without his more important tale, The Lord of the Rings. 2012 will be a festival or a funeral. I
t all hinges upon our Republican politicians trying something new and novel: Discontinuing politics. If only we could send Sam and Frodo to Washington. Alas, Mt. Doom was probably easier.

Smart? Yes. Brave? No.

Film maker, Michael Moore, no stranger to the phenomenon of opinion offerings, has finally chimed in on the New York City mosque controversy.  Moore says he does not want it built in the vicinity of Ground Zero. Instead, he wants it on Ground Zero.

Actually, Moore is a pretty bright guy. He's smart enough to know that Jews, Christians, and other religious faiths will not be sending out hit men for his offensive remarks. He also knows that even if some American nut case wanted to do just that, he would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of American law. Now, let's see him call upon Saudi Arabia to allow the construction of a church or synagogue. Where? Well, no, it does not have to be in the heart of Mecca. Tell you what, Michael, just ask them to build one anywhere in the country. On the day Moore shows that kind of bravery, hell will freeze over, Democrats will find a defense for their president apart from hurling the name, "racist" at his opponents, Christ will return, and movie goers will actually go to see one or two of Moore's films.

It Never Happened But Revenge Has Been Taken Anyway

Well, he never did it. Pastor Terri Jones called off the Koran book burning. Unfortunately, the media took this planned, but obscure, little incident and and turned it into a world wide event with ramifications that we'll be experiencing for quite some time. That is the subject on this week's Bob Siegel Show. The program aired 9-12-10 and can now be downloaded from www.bobsiegel.net.

Has It Been A Whole Year Already?

About a year ago I was called for jury duty.  After spending most of the day at the municipal court, I was dismissed, but not before making some interesting observations. In any event, next Thursday I go in again. I guess if you are not selected, you are eligible for a second call. So how about a trip down memory lane?  Just click the link below and you can read all about the fun adventures your ol' pal Bob had last year.

Oh...For those of you who are religious, please pray with me that it ends the exact same way.

"No" Is Sometimes A Good Word.

Well, Obama is doing it again. Since he can't play the "blame Bush" card every day, he occasionally pulls his "Republicans are the party of no," card from the bottom of the deck. You can tell he is insufferably pleased with himself over this one, as if the most clever strategy in the history of politics appeared to him like an epiphany on Mt. Sinai.

Our president is actually a very intelligent person, so there can be only one explanation to such an infantile maneuver.  He's hoping the high majority of the country is stupid. To nurture that hope, he reminds himself that he was voted into office (No, I do not believe every person who voted for the man is stupid. Some were merely misled, or caught up in the moment. Besides, many who supported Obama are waking up, but when he continues with such drivel, it speaks low for his opinion of his own followers, showing contempt for the very people who put him in office.)

In front of a hysterically laughing crowd, at the V and M Star in Youngstown, Ohio, President Obama insisted Republicans would say no even if he told them the sky was blue. (Oh, my sides.)

I guess it's time to revisit the subject of Yes and No once again. I may as well start at the children's level since our president is talking to us like children.

Is no always a bad word?

"No you cannot have any more candy,"  a mother tells her young ones.

"No you cannot play on the street," she also says.

No commentary necessary, right?  Good. Let's move upward in ages a bit. When a woman says no to a man's advances, should the guy respond by calling her "the party of no"?  "No means no," is actually a popular saying, unless we are talking about Republicans saying no to Democrats. That, of course, is a foul.

How about some historical perspective? Is it good that the colonists said no to English taxation without representation? Was it good that we fought a Civil War saying no to slavery?  Should we continue to say no to racism? Do we say no to murder?

OK, we agree then. Words such as yes or no are neutral. They take on meaning only when we decide what we are saying yes or no to. Increasingly larger amounts of people are happy to see Republicans saying no to policies that endanger our national security, paralyze the private sector, and sue states like Arizona for simply enforcing federal law.  Oh, one last thing: Obama was a Senator when George Bush was president.  Just thought I'd mention that in case anybody had forgotten. How many of Bush's policies did Senator Obama himself say no to? I guess back in those days, Democrats were
the "party of no."

Still, I suppose yes does sound like a more positive word. So be it. Say yes to voting Democrats out of office this November!!! On the other hand, if you like Democrats, then you may chose to say no and if you make that choice, please deal with it when others also reserve the right to say no.

This is Bob Siegel, saying yes to making the obvious, obvious.

Iran and the United Nations

Today, many headlines read, "Iran Says It Has Right To Bar U.N. Inspectors."

Question: What the heck difference does any of this make any more? Supposing Iran broke tradition and allowed an honest inspection? Supposing it was discovered that their nuclear weapons capability is right around the corner instead of a long, five minute drive down the block like we thought? Just what exactly would the U.N. do about it?  I'm not asking what they would say about it. What would they do?

Since we already know the answer to the question, we may as well not waste any more valueble time discussing it. The U.N. has already sucked enough oxygen out of the room.

Israel Should Stop Giving Back Land

I used to enjoy reading Time Magazine. In fact, I'll go you one better: Time is the only periodical I have ever subscribed to. How sad to see this once prestigious collection of print degenerate into a sea of irresponsible, sensationalist journalism, unmatched even by the National Enquirer. It reeks of cowardly Political Correctness, brainwashed propaganda, and vain, pitiful attempts to restore its dying readership in the wake of the Internet media reformation.

The cover story of this week's Time Magazine says, "Why Israel Doesn't Care About Peace."

I see...Israel doesn't want peace. I guess they didn't want peace when they gave back the Sinai to Egypt. You will recall that they only took the Sinai in the first place because then President Nasser of Egypt bragged about how he would destroy Israel, not push for a two state solution, but destroy her. Years later, under a Jimmy Carter treaty, Israel gave the land back.

And was Israel against peace when she returned the Gaza Strip to the Palestinians? Actually, she was accused of thwarting the peace process. How? Why? You really have to follow the rational train of thought on this one: You see, after Israel withdrew from Gaza, the Palestinians under the direction and influence of Hamas, thanked their  Israeli neighbors by firing rockets at her from across the new Gaza border. When Israel retaliates or stops ships carrying additional weapon supplies for Gaza, she is viewed as the villain.

I think the time has come to try this a whole new way: Here's my suggestion: Israel should stop giving back land. That's it. No more land. No more peace talks. Just cease and desist and let the chips fall where they may.  I know the world will criticize her for such a decision but in case you haven't noticed by now, Israel gets condemned no matter what she does. So what difference will it make to her reputation? None. What difference will it make to Israel? Well, she'll be safer. That's something, isn't it?

Basically speaking, that land is theirs anyway. Israel's historical claim goes back to ancient times and just  because the Romans displaced the Jews, that does not mean Jewish people had no right to return to their home land years later when the League of Nations invited them to do just exactly that. A remnant of Jews had remained in the land those past two thousand years anyway. Yes, Arabs were there too as a result of Muslim expansion in the 600's and other expansions later. The Balfour Declaration promised the Jews all of what we today call Israel, all of what we today call Jordan, and most of what we today call "occupied territory," occupied only because Israel won a war when a bunch of collaborating nations chose to attack and annihilate her. I would say that after Great Britain helped create Jordan by selling 75 percent of the promised land to the Arabs behind the backs of the Jews, enough Jewish  land was taken away. I would say that when Arabs wanted the additional 25 percent, and Israel agreed (in accordance with the new United Nations) to partition the territory once again, enough land was taken away. The Arabs rejected this  two state solution, leading to the 1948 war and the displaced Arabs (later changing their names to Palestinians in the 1960's).

Even today, most Israelis are in favor of a two state solution if only it will bring peace. But it won't bring peace. As I said in last week's blog, once there is a separate "Palestinian" state, the Palestinians will take the next step and call for the "right of return." My source for this assumption?  The Palestinians! That is just exactly what they say they will do, but the world isn't listening.

Here's the thing: When Israel keeps giving back land, she involuntarily puts forth a false message that the land was never her's in the first place. This causes the Arabs to ask for even more land. It will never end until there is no more Israel.

The land belongs to the Israelis. Even if you don't believe it was a gift from God (as I do) the human rights related historical facts mentioned above are undeniable to anyone who wants to look at history honestly and square in the eye.

My advice to Israel: Give back no more land.

My advice to Time Magazine: Give back the money to anyone unfortunate enough to still subscribe to your thoughtless, shameful, brain dead publication.

This is Bob Siegel, making the obvious, obvious.

Does Support For Glenn Beck Violate Biblical Mandates?

Glenn Beck has been called everything from a hate monger, to a racist, to a seditionist.
And that's just what his enemies think of the poor guy. Why Do We Keep Courting These Independents?

Yes, it’s that wonderful, delightful time of the election year when candidates, finished with their primaries (i.e. kissing up to their base) now set out to court those coveted Independents. You know, the ones who are neither Republican nor Democrat. Supposedly, being an Independent is a badge of honor. After all, these are the non-partisans. They just care about the issues. Indeed, they may actually be more intelligent than the rest of us.

Allow me to put forth a question that begs to be asked: Why do we keep rolling over and playing dead for these people?  I understand that politicians need their vote. But it’s frightening and uncanny how much power they have. Think about it. Those who have difficulty making up their minds will decide the fate of the country for the next four years. Maybe if we didn’t kiss up to them so much, each citizen would be forced to choose a party by first learning what the party actually stands for.  In fact, they might just develop some genuine convictions.  Instead these pampered pals hold the election hostage year after year, viewing debates from special rooms, hooked up with the latest electronic gadgets that register their disapproval when one candidate raised his voice too much or another wore a crooked tie.

In this corner, the liberal agenda! In that corner, the conservatives! Serving as a judge  who will call the game for us; people void of convictions and filled with a fickleness tossed back and forth by the wind.

Before I continue, I have certainly met some true Independents, people familiar with the world we live in and frustrated with the hypocrisy that often characterizes both parties.  But frankly, I see this wing of the Independents as an exception.

I remember, years ago, listening to a woman explain to me why she was not going to vote for George Bush Senior as president. It was because of his running mate, Dan Quayle. “There’s no way I’m voting for him. He can’t even spell the word, potato.”

Now mind you, this woman knew nothing about what was going on in the country and would have been unable to explain the philosophical difference between a Democrat or a Republican. The only thing she knew about this election, and I mean THE ONLY THING SHE KNEW ABOUT THIS ELECTION was that Quayle couldn’t spell the word potato.  Dan Quayle, supposedly, was too stupid  for the Oval Office, even though he graduated law school and served in the National Guard before becoming a US Senator. The very idea of somebody voting in any election based upon that kind of reasoning, yet smugly patting themselves on the back, saying “He’s too stupid for my vote,” creates a rather scary irony. And yet, these are the ones being wooed by presidential hopefuls.

Speaking as one individual, I’m tired of hearing what the “independents” think. Why? Because many of them cannot think. Doesn’t matter.  They hold election lightening at their fingertips.

That Was The Year I Didn't Vote and I Never Regretted It!

I believe people should be forced to take a basic intelligence test before they are allowed to vote.

Stop!  Stop right there!  I know what some of you are thinking! You are ready to call that a racist comment. Am I correct? Or, should I say, are you Politically Correct?

Well, chill out. Take a deep breath and relax. I am not talking about Jim Crow laws.  I mean EVERYBODY should be forced to participate in such an exam. This is not a racial thing. Believe me, I have met many stupid white people in my time. We should have to take the test whether we are white, African American, Hispanic, Asian, male, female, gay or straight, Martian or Earthling.

Why do I say this? Well, our recent 2008 presidential election serves as a perfect example:  People watching the debates were insisting Obama won. When I asked why they thought he was the victor, I heard any number of the following:

“Obama looked calm and cool. McCain seemed agitated.”

“Obama is young. McCain is old.”

“McCain seemed to have a frown on his face.”

Putting the non-stop, chilling problems of Obama's two year presidency aside for a moment, let us review what we knew about him before the election, or more correctly put, what anyone could have known if they were willing to use their eyes and ears:

Here were my exact words in a blog of the same title as above, written for Town Hall in the month of October, 2008:

Our country is about to elect as president, a man who supports infanticide, unconditional talks with dictators, two bills that would eliminate free speech and mandatory redistribution of wealth. (Those are his own words and they are open words describing Socialism.)

This man also objected to a bill that would have stopped banks from being bullied into giving out loans to people who cannot afford to pay them. And his own campaign has funded ACORN, responsible for one of  the greatest mass voter frauds ever perpetrated upon our country. Finally, he promises to raise taxes in the middle of a bad recession, The last president to try that brilliant maneuver was Herbert Hoover. How did that work for everybody? Good one, Herb.

Oh, I almost forgot his racist pastor, his terrorist friend, and his Jew hating Palestinian associate whom he hopes liberal Democratic Jews will forget about when he brags about how Pro-Israel he is.

When asked by Rick Warren if evil existed, he could not say yes without immediately reminding us that the United States has also done evil things. He was praised for giving a “nuanced” answer.

When asked about Russia invading Georgia, he called upon “both sides to exercise restraint.” However, in this instance, we should cut him some slack. He was probably confused and thought Georgia was that state between South Carolina and Florida. Since in his mind, America is always responsible when attacked, he called upon restraint. Had he known Georgia was a foreign country, he might have defended her sooner.

And what are the positive qualities? What are his credentials? That he once collected funds for Bill Ayers, supporting a program that taught radical Marxism and revolutionary theory to college students? Or are his qualifications that he wrote his own autobiography? Maybe he deserves the job because he has been running for president for two years now and such hard work should be rewarded.  True, he was a senator as well.  What did he accomplish as a  senator?   He ran for president!

And we are going to put this man in office, why exactly?  Because McCain looks old? Because McCain frowned?  Because McCain can't talk as smoothly?

I said it before and I’ll say it again: There should be a comprehensive written exam before people are allowed to vote.

When I was a young Democrat in college, I voted for George McGovern. I knew nothing about him, except that he was against the Vietnam War. I am not happy about that vote but it never mattered anyway. The man lost by a landslide. During the next election, when Carter ran against Ford, I was a little older (just a little) and a little wiser. Because of my wisdom I decided not to vote that year. Why? Because I had been too busy with college and social life to take an interest in politics. That was wrong of me. I should have taken an interest in politics, but I hadn’t. I could have voted anyway. I could have said, “It’s my right and privilege as an American and by golly, I’m going to vote!”

Instead, I was forced to look myself in the eye and admit that if I had (by choice) become too ignorant to understand one candidate from another, my vote would have been based upon “Eanie, Meanie, Minie, Moe.” Or worse, I would have voted for the Democratic candidate, only because I was a Democrat.  I decided not to vote that year. I have never regretted the decision. I wish more people would do the same.
