Is Sarah Palin Alone In Her Gaffes?

Not long ago, I attended a social gathering with different families and mixed ages of people. One of the adults made a joke about Sarah Palin. Immediately, a high school junior responded by saying with cynicism, “Let’s not go by anything Sarah Palin says.” She then proceeded to remind us that Sarah Palin knew nothing about the treasured ride of Paul Revere. Palin, responding to some cameras and reporters while visiting Boston’s Freedom Trail, had given a response which flooded the media, describing how Revere had warned  British soldiers that the colonies would defend themselves from their planned attack, kind of a reverse description of the late night ride as we conventionally understand it. Even though some are offering Palin vindication by claiming Paul Revere did indeed warn his British adversaries of what they were up against, the fact that he did this as a captive of  British soldiers forces us to concede that Sarah’s statement, at the very least, was a confusing one.

Is The Bible A Book Of Fairy Tales?

"The Bible is a book of fairy tales."

This statement was submitted by one of my readers. He wasn't raising the issue for discussion, mind you, rather he was making an affirmative statement. I use this comment as a launching off point for this week's Bob Siegel Show. The program aired 6-19-11 and can now be downloaded from www.bobsiegel.net.

Be Encouraged Mr. President

President Obama has admitted with a chuckle that his “shovel ready” projects were not nearly as shovel ready as they had hoped.

Many are upset with the president for seemingly laughing off the many people out of work as he seeks to create government jobs all the while exhibiting zero concern (or perhaps limited understanding) of a failing private sector and the reasons it fails.

Perhaps we should be merciful and offer him the benefit of the doubt. Possibly Obama laughed merely to make fun of himself. True, even with this scenario, it might have been more about saving face and recovering an otherwise embarrassing moment while answering a question during a television interview. Then again,  maybe the guy actually feels bad about about one of his failing policies and stands ready to take sole responsibility and is now reconsidering….

Hmm…Yeah…Maybe…And maybe Santa is losing weight this year by getting an extra work out while constructing a slick, new 2011 model sleigh. And maybe Nancy Pelosi and Sarah Palin get along so well, they’re thinking of joining a health club together. Maybe the next time Joy Behar activates her mouth, she’ll activate her brain first.  And maybe we’ll all go ice skating together some day rejoicing that hell had frozen over.

In any event, cheer up, Mr. President. You did indeed create a huge, massive, shovel ready project.  In fact, with only you to thank, I can think of something right now which desperately needs to be shoveled.
